Peter Sherman has been successfully leading process improvement programs for more than 20 years. His passion is helping organizations improve their business performance and individuals build their problem solving and critical thinking skills. Sherman is Managing Partner of Riverwood Associates, a Lean Six Sigma certification and consulting firm based in Atlanta.

Sherman began his career in quality working in Japan as a visiting M.I.T. Scholar in 1986, where he worked with Dr. Edwards Deming, the noted American Quality expert and learned Japanese quality practices including the Toyota Production System, Kaizen and Quality Circles. From 1998-2010, he was a Master Black Belt with AT&T. From 2010-2014, he served as director of Process Excellence for Cbeyond Communications, a $500 million publicly-traded telecommunications company based in Atlanta. Sherman implemented Cbeyond’s Lean Six Sigma Program.

He was Lead Instructor of Emory University’s Six Sigma Program in Atlanta from 2008-2011. During this time, he served on iSixSigma Magazine’s Editorial Advisory Board. Sherman is currently an Expert Answers panelist for ASQ’s Quality Progress magazine. He has written nearly 60 articles on Lean, Six Sigma and quality in a variety of professional journals and magazines, including ASQ Quality Progress, iSixSigma, Quality Digest, APICS Magazine, Manufacturing Matters, Institute of Business Process Management, Inside Supply Management, Business Performance Management, and Hospitals & Health Networks.

He is a certified Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt, ASQ-Certified Quality Engineer and an APICS-Certified Supply Chain Professional.
